Most notably used in a wide range of construction projects and applications, carbon steel is ideally suited for infrastructure and pipeline construction for utilities given its strength and durability. Common traits associated with carbon steel products are its weldability, easily machined, cost effective, flexibility and ductility in so many unique environments.
Steel Grades and Shapes
1018 is one of the most common grades found in mild carbon steel, but here at Specialized Metals, we are ideally suited for assisting our customers with harder to find carbon steel grades such as 1020, 1026, 1045, and even 1095 carbon grades. These products come in a variety of shapes such as Round, Square, Flat and Hex bars, also sheet and plate as long as 40 feet long for some industries. We are highly specialized in providing carbon tube and pipe and the square and rectangle tube shapes provided to ASTM-A500 Grade B/C as well as Mechanical tube specifications ASTM-A513 and ASTM-A519 for Seamless Tube.
Naval and Military Applications for Steel
The ship building industry utilizes these carbon steel products for ABS grading and MIL-S-22698 specially testing products in bar and plates. MIL-S-22698 is a unique specification listing grades such as AH-36, DH-36, and EH-36, but we also assist with Grade A, Grade B, and Grade D all meeting MIL-S-22698 as well.
Steel pipe in the military is a major strength of performance for Specialized Metals, we work with MIL-P-24691 in all applicable grades and revisions. Boiler Tubes for military applications will utilize specifications MIL-T-16286 in such conditions as Annealed, Normalized, or Stress Relieved. At Specialized Metals, we take pride in our Quality driven process to ensure every test is performed, and our customers receive the test reports and trace documentation tailored to their specific work applications.
